This summer has been the warmest and sunniest weather I can remember. So often when it’s hot inland, the dewy thick fog hugs the Big Sur coast. I have been taking advantage of this warm weather, going to the beach as often as possible. The beaches here in Big Sur are all so unique, some are rocky shores with big boulders and pounding surf, others are white or purple sandy beaches with crystal clear water. I enjoy the mixed verity of beach landscapes.

I have lived on the ocean my whole life, and it’s a true source of inspiration for my work. I am always looking at rocks and shells, seeing textures and patterns in the environment.

I walk on the beach most days. I also love to wear my headphones and dance like no ones watching to electronic dj dance mixes. The sand is so forgiving when dancing wild! Swimming and playing in the surf makes me feel so alive. I do wear a wetsuit, because the water can be a bit nippy, and I’m able to stay in the water for an hour or two vs. a quick dip.

What is your relationship with the ocean? How does it make you feel? I would love to hear your experiences.
